Sohar is the capital and largest city of the Al Batinah North Governorate in the Sultanate of Oman. An ancient capital of the country that once served as an important port town, Sohar has also been credited as the mythical birthplace of Sinbad the Sailor.

Although far from main travelling routes and quite unknown to outside world, it is a place worth visiting. Crystal clear sea with LOT of fish, endless sandy beach …

What impressed me is the hospitality. On so many occasions I’ve been invited for a coffee, tea or even a lunch from completely unknown people. It was very common to see two or three generations of the same family, being together and enjoying their time, something that can be rarely seen today.
